Barnett & Horton are excellent affordable crossbows, Excalibur is a bit more and Tenpoiint is in the Cadilac/Lincoln price range. Although I am not a crossbow expert, I do sell the above brands and my best seller has been the Barnett Quad 400 package (which includes bow, quiver, 6 22" bolts, and either a 4x32 scope or a red-dot (legal in PA) scope)--but all manufacturers are coming out with new models every year--for instance, you can now get a Quad 400 AVI Barnett--shorter limbs with better anti-vibration (makes them quieter when released)--and I thinnk you may want a cocking device-eiterh rope or crank--cause these babies ain't easy to cock!!  Most of the better crossbows for hunting shoot at a rate of 300 to 345 feet per second--some more some less--but I would stick to something around 340--as for those high-tech tactical crossbows--what the hcek you need something like that for--sort of along the same line as those who hunt whitetails with a .338 Lapua--way too much overkill!!! Iknow this isn't a web store--but if you need an exact price on a particular outfit--contact me--by the way, all the above manufacturers have web sites full of info about their products--just do a goolge search on the coompanies

I gotta add one more thing--if you are planning on giving this a try next fall--get one soon so you have plenty of time to practice this summer!!!

Flyfisher--I sell on the internet--eBay and a web site--however I am working out of town right now and have place everything on hold for the time being--also, come this spring, my cousin is opening a sporting goods store at the Agway in Brookville, and I will have many items stocked there--in the meantime, if there is a particular  crossbow your interested in, let me know, I will email you a price and have it shipped directly from the warehouse to you--my new website should be up and running by May (or sooner) and the store should be open around that time also--I've been outfitting folks all over the coountry since 2001--I  sell everything hunting and fishing related except for firearms (I do have sell muzzleloaders though) and my prices are very competitive

I couldn't take it any longer, so I spent my income tax today and I ordered an Excalibur Equinox with all the bells and whistles. I figured you only live once.

350 fps
6.4 lbs
38.4 length

Holy sweetness Buff.

Put some 100 grain Slick Tricks on those bolts and never look back.  Excaliber is probably the most well made and reliable crossbow out there.  Good choice if the width doesn't bother ya.

Have fun and let us know how she shoots and your impressions when you get it.
