I have both a steel and an aluminum ladder stands. The steel ones are less expensive, but weighs over 50 lbs. My aluminum is a little over 20 lbs, easy to lug around and was a lot more expensive. Both are good stands. I also have two climbers, but I feel safer in a ladder stand and ladders are easier to get in and out of. Go for the steel one if you aren't going to be lugging it around. You can get a nice steel one at Walmart for $100 no shipping. You also might try Grices or Bob's. They are a little over 50 lbs for a steel one and costly when shipping. --Last edited by Buff on 2007-10-01 17:53:09 -- |

Thanks for the info guys. But unfortunatly my car troubles were bigger than i figured. I will have to put off buying a stand for a few weeks but ill use the time to shop around and hopefully i still get it before the rut gets into full swing. | |||

Don't know where you are at but Dicks Sporting Goods usually has cheap Hunters View ladder stands on sale for $59.99. They are steel and heavy but we bought two and just leave them in the woods all year. They have been out for about 5 years now and are still in good shape. I think they are 12 footers but you can but the 4 foot entension for a few bucks more there. I checked the website and they do not list them there. Maybe worth a call to a store if you are close. |
