I decided to try hunting across the street on the edge of the grape vineyards this morning.  Nothing was heard on the walk to the woods but as soon as I turned into the drainage cut I heard gobbling.  I stopped about 25 yds from where I planned to set up because I have bumped turkeys there before.  I made a few tree call and he kept gobbling, but not  really at my calls.  When his gobbling sounded like it was going the other way, I did one set of louder calls and started rustling some leaves.  All of a sudden the gobbling started to get louder.  He came up through the mowed section looking for me.  A few more soft clucks and he was 25-30 yds away.  He could not see me through the briars I was sitting behind.  One shot and that was it.

Way to go rich. I've done real good calling up coyotes. WE had 1 about 20 yrds from our blind. Hope the deer are that stupid.
