Seen some coyote tracks while out this weekend.  I have hunted them a little over the pasts couple of years but I admit I have alot to learn when it comes to calling in the wiley coyote.

Got one to howl at me last year but no sightings while actually hunting them.  Talked to the farmer saturday and he assures me that there are quite a few around.  Going to have to give it a try late January and Febuary if we can ever get some snow down here in SW Pa.

Anyone go after these buggers on a regular basis?  What calls do you like?  I have assorted howlers, rabbit squealers, mouse squeakers and fawn bleats.

To me, calling in and harvesting an Eastern Coyote would be the ultimate in Pa.  Probably on par with harvesting a bear.

Probably BETTER than harvesting a bear in my opinion....

I don't hear about to many folks "calling" in a bear to harvest it... most are shot after a BUNCH of guys push the woods forcing the bear to move.

Not near as challenging as callin in a yote...

Was out last evening and cut a pair of tracks from the night before.  Set up on them with the rabbit squealer and had no takers.  Just at dusk with the late fading fast, I tried my howler and bingo!!  A challenge howl in response.

Too dark to shoot now so I backed out and will give it try tonight or tommorrow.  Some day it will come together for me.

I want one of those critters bad.   smile/AR15firing.gif

Nightstalker and I were sitting at my kitchen table one afternoon when I looked outside and saw this young female in my yard. I grabbed the .22, quietly opened the front door, snuck around the corner and shot it. Around 25#.

Here's another one, 41#

I've also have shot a few in deer seasons.

I've been busted more times than not calling them in.
