Since it rained yesterday I decided to try Toby today.  I had heard that there was another kid's derby at the McDonald's hole last weekend so I decided to start there.  The creek didn't raise up very much but was murky.  

The fishing at the McDonald's hole was slow.  I hooked a little Palamino but lost it.  I went down below to the head end of the riffle and didn't get any there.  Then I came back up and tried the hole from the other side which is where I prefer to be.  I hooked something big and thought it might be a sucker since they are spawning and there are lots of them around.  I quickly realized though that it was a big Brown.  He was a good fighter but I only figured it was 17-18 inches...until I tried to net it.  I missed on the first pass with the net but got it with the second.  It was 20.5 inches which is my biggest trout of the year and second biggest Brown ever.  I was going to let it go but unfortunately it was bleeding badly from its gill so I kept it and gave it to a guy.  He snapped a couple pics for me.  I attached one below.  

I caught two more small ones in the hole and four down further in the riffle.  After a while I moved on and tried a couple of other places but only caught two more.  I ended with 9 for the day.

Me too.  Then big kids like us can come in afterwards and catch some big ones
