I was there again on Sunday. I caught 21 right below the spillway and another 26 just below that amongst the boulders. It is nearly impossible to fish amongst the boulders without snagging up constantly. What I do is get downstream of them and cast directly up with no sinkers. I just keep slowly reeling in as the bait comes downstream towards me. It works very well. I didn't catch any nice ones on Thursday but caught four nice ones this time. I caught one Brookie that was about 17 inches and three Browns that were about 15 inches. To finish the day we fished one hole on Mill Creek which is under the bridge on 322 before it empties into Sandy. I caught seven more there. My cousin only managed to catch seven at North Fork for whatever reason but did catch four in the hole on Mill Creek. |

yeah it is hard not to get snags but it is a great wetfly and dry fly hole. I caught 35 on saturday morning all were nice trout biddest was about 16 inch brookie a lot of 13 to 15inch browns. I did catch one rainbow about a foot. Sunday night I caught 25 on a new dry fly i came up with to imitate the hatch i have been seeing. Had a nice brown trout on that i figure was 17 or 18 inches. I did notice guys are keeping trout out of here i just wish more guys just enjoyed catching fish multiple times. --Last edited by FlyFisher on 2007-06-13 12:03:25 --

Normally I totally agree with you about catch and release. I let all of mine go unless I get a really big one that I want mounted. In the case of this particular place though maybe it is good that some of the fish are being taken. There are an awful lot of them in a small area. They're probably not getting enough food. As summer wears on and the water gets lower and warmer it'll just get worse. |

That might be right but i am usually there 3 days a week now and to be honest that hole due to the high oxygen is loaded with minnows and cray fish. I have done some saining for nymphs and this spot has a higer volume of insect life than a lot of places on N. Redbank. I watched some lunkers that made it through the winter this year and I know one is still there. The fish move down into the riffles to feed at night I have watched it happen. Dont get me wrong i keep a few to eat once in a while i just see the same guys keeping a limit every weekend. We will see I imagine I will run into you one of these days I am there enough but when i am there i am usually the only one fishing.

There are definitely a ton of crayfish there for whatever reason. You've probably seen this too where they collect on the sides of the concrete and the blackbirds come and pick them off. They throw then on the bank and peck at them to kill them then carry them off. Pretty cool. |

Yeah it is neat to see that stuff right in town. Lots of ducks there and water snakes. I have seen the black birds it is neat. I have even seen loons there. Look in the mud down stream and you will pry find deer track too. Its pretty neat considering where it is located.
