My 3 year old son and I spent the afternoon stocking the North Fork Firday and I gotta tell ya.. it was interesting getting different peoples perspectives on whats going on there. Amidst all the talk of PH levels, dredging and several other side discussions I came away with one definate. They put a pile of fish in that little stream. As to if they stay or not or if they die, etc... I dunno about that but I do know they were put in and within the next few weeks I hope to find time to go after them. One thinkg I did find especially interesting. The officer from the fish comission that was there wasnt exceptionally talkative but a comment was made by someone in the officers presence; "this creek's gonna be off the stock list next year I guarntee it" and the officer offered no response at all.. A guy from the North Fork Watershed Assoc. (which I never knew existed until this past weekend) was at Jones bridge testing the PH but I left before he had his results, i'd be curious to know what it was.

Went for a walk below Richardsville Bridge this morning for several hundred yards and then I went to the "forge" for another couple hundred yards up to the old swimming hole.

I did not see a trout anywhere in my travels ???????????

Surely folks did not catch and take home all those fish they (PFBC) put in on Friday ?????

I was REALLY surprise I could not find a fish at Richardsville....guys were reporting fish there all week-end ????

That does suprise me.. We/they put 4 buckets right under the bridge in Richardsville and 1 bucket in the riffles just below the hole under the bridge. They loaded two floats down at the dead end right beside the bridge. The floats were going to Moore bridge obviously. Saturday evening there was a good sized "school" right under the bridge at the very end of the hole that were hitting minows. I did see several people carring fish around but it would'a been tough for them to have fished that out in just few days.

I could see bottom everywhere under that bridge this morning and believe me there was NO fish under the Richardsville Bridge AT ALL !!!!

I talked to the guys that took those two floats down stream from Richardsville on Sunday Morning.. they put all the fish in between Richardsville and "the forge" that's why I looked there too... they pulled the empty floats out at the dirt road below the actual old forge (swimming hole).... they told me they guess that had 500 fish in those two floats ???

doc, i fished north fork saturday morning as i heard they stocked it friday. 1 other guy fishing, creek was low and clear. stood on the bridge before i fished, could see the bottom but no fish. went down around the bend fished and walked, toward moore bridge, not 1 fish. as i was leaving i was talking to a person who said he saw them stock it friday, he said the ph level must have sent them packing down stream??? he also heard about them not stocking next year. i dunno. i used to love fishing that stream, always caught fish, it's a beautiful area. we went on the camp bar crawl sat afternoon. i caught a nice buzz saturday.

this is no lie folks. on the way to camp friday night on 949  coming from belltown just before the "t" where you go left you go to ridgway, go right you head toward dixon store/brookville we stopped next to the field that's fenced in on the elft hand side, my buddy's wife had to go potty. there had to be at least 50 deer in that field, ask my wife, my buddy, his wife. they were jaw dropped. right around dusk friday night. this was after we almost hit deer the entire way over 949 from 36. it was amazing. we stopped and they took off back into the woods right at the corner of the field where in back of it it looks like they timbered it? i tell you what, we saw more deer this weekend than i have seen in ages. there are going to be a lot of them running around come deer season. so the people that say there aren't any deer, stay away from 2f/jefferson county/polk township this season. we'll make sure we control the population.   doc next time the wife is at camp, over 4th of july, stop in, she will tell you. she couldn't stop talking about it.
