I didn't end up going today.  I wanted to sleep in.  Talked to my cousin and my friend who both fished the river yesterday.  They only caught one trout between them.  Supposed to get rain Tuesday.  Let's hope so.

Yeah the water level around Belltown was really really low... I wish I would have taken my waders... I could have tried some new spots because walking would have been easier with the low water.. it was much easier to see bottom...

Getting a real good rain today.  Looks like more coming tomorrow and maybe even Thursday.  We REALLY needed this.  It'll be interesting to see what the stream flow chart does.  Today's rainfall is just starting to raise the river.  http://waterdata.usgs.gov/pa/nwis/uv?03029500

this is much needed the water temps were getting into the high 60's so this will help extend the trout fishing some.

Fish On!!!

Fished the river tonight below Heath Station from 6:30 to 8:30.  Caught one small Brown.  River looks the same as it did Saturday.  Must not have gotten the rain upstream or at least not much.

You are not fishing the right spot in that area.

I know a ton of folks fish from those rocks but from where you are standing taking the photos you could not cast to the "hot spots" in the area..

I've caught fish from that area (rocks) but I discovered better fishing down stream in the areas of the second photo... you just have to find the deeper water closer to the opposite shore line.. down by that rock on the right and leaning tree on the left.. you have to wade out about 1/2 way and fish towards the opposite shore....

Just a funny thought. When I went over to the river on Monday there were probably 15 people fishing from that rocky area...

I'm surprised there were none when you were there ??

Apparently everyone had packed up by the time I got there.  I didn't get there until 6:30 pm Tuesday.  Thanks for the tip on where to fish.  I actually fished the area in the first picture and fished down below the leaning tree in the second photo. I just didn't take any pictures while I was down there.

My favorite spot is accross the river from the where I'm standing.  Unfortunately getting down that bank is a real pain in the butt and I was kind of afraid to do it so late in the evening.  If I fell and got hurt nobody would be around to know and there is no cell phone reception down there.  I could lay there all night.  National Fuel has no trespassing signs at the top of the hill but not down farther which is where I went in on Saturday.  I like it better over there because that is where the riffle is. Also, it doesn't get fished as hard on that side.

The Cooksburg streamflow is up to 1010 cf/s right now. It was only 650 cf/s on Tuesday night.  So, it looks like the rain is having an effect.  Just so it doesn't get muddy.  I might go fishing after work again Thursday night and will likely be going Sunday but I'm not sure where yet.  We might try Kettle Creek on Sunday.  I haven't been there yet this year.

I'm sure you probably know this but if not be fore warned....

coming down that hill and near the water there is a ton and I mean a ton of poison ivy...

I used to make that trip down over a lot of times until I slipped one time and somehow went right thru the ivy (not knowing it at the time)and got poison ivy so bad I had to see a doctor.... only made the "trip" once since then and you are right it was/is good fishing from that side....

another good spot is on River Road as you leave Belltown headed towards Hallton..and past the satellite house and start up the hill about 1/2 way up then go down over again.. but it's almost impossible to find a place to stand that is not poison ivy there.... I have not fished there in years....

Actually I did not know about the poison ivy.  Yikes!  Thanks for letting me know.  I'll keep an eye out.

For some reason around Belltown that side of the river is loaded with ivy almost everywhere...  even to get to my favorite rocks just above the bridge I have to "sneak" thru some...
