I want to get back down to Heath Station some time this weekend.  I'm still not giving up hope on a big one.

If you really want to get a big clarion river trout personally I think up around Ridgway and Johnsonburgh gives you a much better shot in the all tackle Catch and release water.

Probably so.  I may hit that at some point.  I really like the area down around Heath though and I like to be able to keep a big one if I so choose.

I figure a picture is a lot better than a mount to me anyway.

I know we've discussed this before.  I want the pictures AND the mount.  In general I'm just not in favor of strictly catch and release areas.  I think you should always at least be able to keep one fish.  I know a lot of other folks including you would disagree though.

In an area like the C&r on the clarion the majority of the big trout there got that size in the river.  They were either fingerlings or sometime even wild trout.  It takes those fish atleast 4 years to reach 20 inch size.  They are not put and take stocked lunkers they are trout that were raised in the river.  It takes years for that trout to be replaced by another trout of equal size.  Also a lot of the bigger browns in that area do spawn and some are successfull.  I have caught many small trout in the tribs that were under 5 inches well before the state stocks their fingerlings for the year.  It is protected under catch and release to protect the valuable resources.  If everyone was to keep a trophy trout out of there that fishes is the resource would be lost.  If you choose not to fish it simply beacuse you can't put a trout on your wall for there that is sad you are really missing out on some great fishing for trophy brown trout.

Like I said I'll probably make it up there again at some point.  I've fished behind the old factories before.  It isn't exactly the most scenic of areas.  It looks like it might be nicer further upstream though.

PM if you ever are headed that way and i can let you know a couple of access points that are upstream and a lot more scenic.  I just like that above Ridgway it is mostly trout only that you catch.
