My cousin and I are going to head up to the river tomorrow.  I have a couple of places in mind that I want to try.  That's a nice looking Brown that you caught.

I just read your journal and saw that something broke your six pound test.  Interesting eh?  I had the same thing happen on my four pound test on Sunday up below Kinzua Dam.  I got a really solid bite and then my line snapped.  I'd love to know what it was.  Up there it could be anything.  I only caught one up there then I caught six at East Branch.  We went back up to East Branch on Tuesday.  I caught 15.  It's a smaller stream than what I'm used to but it's pretty nice up there.

Yeah it was interesting... I felt two strong BUMP.. BUMP... then the line started to go and the rod tip bent. I pulled back and WHAM the line came flying back at me. lost the hook and a small split-shot a foot above the hook ????????

AND the worst part was I put new 6# on about an hour before I went fishing ?????????

It should not surprise me that much I have my line break after a hook up at least once a year fishing the river ...

what is really surprising is the number of fish I am catching at that spot...  last year I did not land one fish there, my hot spot last year was below Portland Mills this year it's above..

GO FIGURE !!!!

IT's fun imagining what it was though...

because of the strong BUMP..BUMP and not the grab and go of a smallmouth.. I'm thinking large sucker.....

Are there Carp in the river?  They get really big.  I was wondering if that's what I had on at Kinzua.   I keep telling myself that because I can't handle the thought that it may have been a monster trout.

I have seen a few but NEVER caught one..

several years ago I was fishing at the Belltown bridge and the water was just going wild with splashing etc.. I rode out on the bridge and looked up stream and there were Carp everywhere close to shore acting like they had just come from Pymy spillway

I fished it yesterday for the first time.  My uncle let me borrow a fly rod.  I caught two, lost one, and missed three other strikes.  I then moved downstream and switched to bait and caught eight more.

The eastbranch is a nice river and it seems to be getting better every year.  Its nice to have a place that always has good cold water all summer long.

Exactly!  It's also nice that the flow remains fairly constant regardless of how much rain that we are or are not getting.  Water temps have been right around 55 degrees.

the river stays right around 55 dergees all year.  Also the state has been stocking it with more Browns and Rainbows and they seems to hold over pretty well i Catch a lot of trout form the river in late fall and ans early spring.  The only down side is the are really not any good hatches but that to is getting better slowly.
