You are so right Bob.. When I talked to the newspaper yesterday we had a nice conversation. Much was "off the record" but I can say the number of calls and letters weigh in the favor of the "whiners" but it appears there are not as many as some would have us believe... i.e. 4 people are heard from 3 against one in favor then some one can easily trutfully say or WRITE " From the people I hear from 75% of them are against the idea.." Note when you read some of the anti PGC stuff many times there is no reference as to how many "folks" we are talking about that responded. You read or hear things like.. many of the hunters I talk/hear from OR many who write/call ETC ETC.... WE all need to take a few minutes every now and then and write/call and get our opinions heard or even published.. BTW.... Remeber me mentioning the petition I took to our local club against HB 760 ?? 70 some signed it and I sent it to Rep Sam Smith over two weeks ago and guess what ... NO REPLY YET .... I'm telling you folks .. I do not know the agenda all of a sudden... but it looks to me like te politicans (for what ever reasons) are really after our guns and public huntng land and are willing to do what ever to get them.... Time to get that old hunting community BACK TOGETHER.... --Last edited by Dr Trout on 2007-05-22 07:08:09 -- | |||

The political climate is sure changing. Sportsmen and gun owners will be seeing negative things we do not like. With the Presidential election around the corner, trickle down posturing is occuring as politicians position themselves. I don't have to tell you how the Democratic candidates feel about guns and gun owners but the two of the three leading Republican candidates are also strongly anti gun as well. This is not good. Our plate is full with the PGC/Legislature battle already. Now in a little over a year we may see the biggest gun challenge ever with the Presidential election. |

Doc, I would suggest that what is happening on the political scene is not new, only more intense than before. For many years the politicos have wanted the budget and land access that is, more or less, locked up in an "independent" agency. The difference now, is the negative pressure by actual hunting group. They, have enlisted, requested, begged and threatened lawmakers to get involved. It simply seems like the; "Divide and Conquer" approach. They have been handed an opportunity greater than in any time before --- they're taking it to the limit! |
