Over the past few weeks I have received several E-mails about my realtionship with the PGC ??

Those that have been with me from the start know the answer but for those newer members here's an attempt at an explaination..

I have had my outdoor webpage for over 8 years and either helped start, visit or now run my own message board for that long too... I think I was member #200 at Huntingpa

I have been invited to several PGC events dealing with bear, deer, waterfowl and even elk. I have attend deer meetings, ATV meetings, Game land tours, been interviewed by a Pittsburgh radio statioon about deer hunting in Clear Creek Sate Forest, attended deer seminars and habitat seminars, deer open houses, and have I only missed couple of the SGL#44 tours by RSB and John.

I have met half the PGC Commisioners and have shared "deer conversations" with them.. same for members of the game and fisheries...

As for the PGC... I guess I can say I know about 50 of the staff and respect all of those I have met and can HONESTLY say.. I have NOT met one that I feel is not supportive of hunters as a whole and are thinking of the future when it comes to deer....
but are quick to reminds us it's not all about deer... I'll not list them all.. I would not want to forget someone

AND ALL are available to me for questions and answers...although when I post the replies some may not want their ID included... and I HAVE ALWAYS RESPECTED THAT WISH...

I have always told them that the information getting to the general public needs IMPROVED.. I see some (the latest pamphlets) but more still needs to be done..

I also feel the USP threats (at times) makes them want to limit that information and that's a shame... hopefully an audit and the upcoming court case will clear that all up once and for all..

In answer to a recent E-mails about Bret Wallingford and Chris Rosenberry..

Yes I have met both and spent about an hour talking "deer" with them.. each at a different event.

But believe me they have deer and future deer hunting in their hearts...

Dr. Chris Rosenberry has been at the PGC for about fifteen years He started as the Biometrician and then took over as head of the Deer Management Section after Dr. Alt left.

And YES I have met and talked to Dr. Alt too...before he left the PGC while he was here in Brockway and at the time thought he was NUTS !!!

OH what education can do to change one's mind

Bret Wallingford is the lead deer Biologist and pretty much heads the deer research and probably spends 90% of his time evaluating most of the deer data.

Both answered my questions and to this day are available to me with answers... some of which I may and do share on this message board.

RSB and I have know each other for 8 years now and he probably has much (as anyone) taught me more than I can remember about deer and deer habitat and especially the HISTORY of deer in this area..

and finally Kip Adams..a deer biologist and leader with the Qualtiy Deer Managemnt Association.. he was the director for the Pa area and is a native of Pa. he now works with the REACH program of the QDMA... Kip is always available with his thoughts and occasionally allows me to post some of his great deer articles...

hopefully this will answer some of the recent questions and it did allow me a chance to toot my horn...
