Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will be travelling across the state during the next two months, hosting a series of public meetings to update local communities about the agency’s work while also hearing directly from participants about sporting issues affecting them. A total of eight evening meetings will be held, one in each of the commissioner districts.

“The meetings will provide the public an opportunity to meet commissioners and staff and to hear firsthand about the multiple activities we undertake in order to meet our responsibilities and fulfill our mission,” said Doug Austen, PFBC executive director. “There are a lot of projects we do that I believe the public isn’t aware of. We want to tell them about how these projects enhance fishing and boating opportunities and how they protect and conserve our aquatic resources.

“At the same time, the meetings will also allow us to meet our customers, the anglers and boaters who use our services and the resources every day,” Austen said. “It’s important that we hear from them.”

The first public meeting will be held in York Springs on February 11 at the York Springs Fire Company. Meetings will begin with an informal open house from 6 - 7 p.m., during which the public can meet the executive director, the commissioner representing the district and Commission staff. From 7 – 8 p.m., Executive Director Austen and regional staff will make various presentations, including fisheries updates, habitat projects, outreach and education activities, and boating and access programs. A general discussion and question and answer period will follow from 8 – 9 p.m.

Meeting dates and locations appear below, along with the names of the commissioners representing each district. A map showing each commissioner district is available on the PBFC website at www.fishandboat.com/comm.html.
