Here's an E-mail that I received that I will be reading at the next sportmen's meeting and presentuing our thoughts to the PFSC....

thought I would share it here and get your feed back....

The PGC Commissioners preliminarily approved making crossbows legal in all seasons, including the archery season, at the October Board meeting.  Before this becomes official, it will have to pass again at the January PGC Commissioner meeting.

This has many sportsmen worried that it will create an over-harvest during the archery season, thus resulting in a shorter archery season.  The United Bowhunters of PA (UBP), a PFSC Statewide Organization Member, doe not support full crossbow inclusion in the archery season.

This is being compared by some to the muzzle loader vs in-lines issue.  We still have a separate traditional muzzle loader season where in-lines are not allowed.  So why shouldn't we still have a separate archery season where crossbows are not allowed?

We've been asked if the PFSC would support a "crossbow stamp" so we could have a separate "crossbow season."
This could be in conjunction with a portion of the archery season, or alone.  It could be for "does only."  That would be for the commissioners to decide.

Please consider this issue and provide feedback before the January 24th PFSC Board meeting.  (The PGC meeting is the 25th.)

Should we continue to have a traditional archery season where crossbows are not allowed except by those with handicapped permits?

Should we support allowing crossbows being legal for ALL users during the archery season?

Should we support a "crossbow stamp" so they can have their own season?

Should we support allowing crossbow use being limited to a certain portion of the season; for does only; by junior hunters?

Other supported scenarios?

Clubs, please discuss this with your members, and provide feedback to your County Delegates.

Melody

Here's the reply from the PFSC...

Thanks for the feedback, and it seems to be about the norm.

No stamps, anyone can use, but for only partial inclusion, not the full archery season.

Merry Christmas!
