Search for Northwest PGC Commissioner Candidates

HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Governor's Advisory Council for Hunting, Fishing and Conservation is seeking a qualified candidate to represent northwestern counties on the Pennsylvania Game Commission's board of directors.
The chosen candidate will represent District 1, which includes Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties.

"We need someone who knows about wildlife conservation and restoration and who is adept at listening to the needs and concerns of the hunting, trapping and conservation community," said Ed Grasavage, chairman of the council's game and wildlife subcommittee. "We're reaching out to sportsmen and women of the district in an attempt to find highly qualified candidates interested in interviewing for the position."

A vacancy occurred in District 1 when H. Daniel Hill II resigned the seat in order to join the staff of congresswoman-elect Kathy Dahlkemper.

Commissioners serve eight-year terms without compensation. They receive travel reimbursement and are not eligible for reappointment unless they have served a term of four years or less.

Candidates will first interview with the advisory council's game and wildlife subcommittee and will be rated on their responses, as well as on their professional and volunteer experience with wildlife conservation, youth recruitment and hunter retention, land conservation and other similar activities. All applicants must live in the district.

Governor Edward G. Rendell will select the final candidate to be presented for Senate confirmation.

Individuals interested in applying should send a resume and detailed cover letter explaining their desire to serve to Robb Miller, Governor's Advisory Council for Hunting, Fishing and Conservation, Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market St., 7th Floor, P.O. Box 8767, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8767.

Applications will be accepted until Jan. 30.
