Well, the longer it goes the more it looks like these two are going to be our choices come fall. My feelings are I cannot believe that this is the best both sides has.

I am on the fence with this decision.  I am very much a conservative in my views of the role of govt. I am also a vehement supporter of out second ammendment.  But, this country is not what it used to be.  The middle class is being wiped out as corporate America takes control.  Manufacturing is becoming non-existent here.  It seems we care about helping others instead of those in need of it here.

Gas prices are killing the economy and I am feeling the effects as I have to make choices in order to pay the bills.  Grocery costs are going through the roof as are utilities.  My 2% raise I may get every year gets me no further ahead and we can afford less every year.

I think change is needed.  Do I think that MCCain will bring about the change that this country so desperatly needs? No.  But he will uphold my ideals and morals.  Do I think that Obama should get a chance to see what he can do in office to bring about real change? Part of me answers yes.  Part of me wants to see if he can really accomplish something.

My problem is what am I willing to compromise to give this guy a chance.  I don't know yet and I look forward to the debates that lie ahead.

Some good points Penn.

Bush's legacy will not be known for a long time.  Probably not in both of our lifetimes.  Democracy in the middle east.  It will take time, but if successful, that may go down in the history books as a world changing event.  And Bush will be the one that had the vision.  Not sure if it will actually happen though.  As I said, time will tell.  Other than that what does he have to show, $4 gas and a struggling economy.  Plus the middle class being pinched to death.

I am a strong republican supporter but I don't know this time.  When push comes to shove I will probably pull the republican lever but this may be the first presidential election that I give the "other side" a try.  While this new guy on the scene is inexperienced, I am so disgusted with politics and the lack of action recently a little shake up may be the order of the day.

While the President is the head of the executive branch, change must start from the top down.  Middle management rarely sets the agenda for any policy as they are more concerned about covering thier behind than moving forward with change.

With a President that pushes for change,  those same legislatures may see an out if these policy changes fail as the blame would fall back on the President.

To say that the problem can not be fixed only prolongs the situation.  Vision is what this country needs and wants.  I applaud any politician that is willing to fight the good fight.

But, some of my values and beliefs will be compromised in the process. That is my delimma.
