went to the third annual hawk watch today. erie bluffs state park. we saw almost every type of hawk known to pa today. 2 eagles flew over also.
tamarack rehab center brought 4 live birds for a close up look. coopers hawk, redtail hawk, barred owl, and a great horned owl. the event also included a wildflower hike, a stream ecology hike, and a vernal pool hike.if you would like to see all 473 photos from today,look here: http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i172/prnc_photos/hawk%20watch%2007/

thanks for looking. i went to an ospery talk at moraine on sunday. weather was bad, i was the only person that showed up.the ranger did explain the osprey program to me. he did show me a nest. we got to see one fly around. the weather wasn't good enough for photos. i'll go back on a nice day for pics. he showed me a place at the north shore that has live barn owls, it was closed. i'll get photos when i go back. he also told me of an upcoming event including live birds. it's not posted on the calendar of events yet, he say's it will be in june.

Looks like the barred owl didn't want to come out and play.

the barred owl(named ick) came out later. he attacked and killed a pillowcase.
