Soooo Here I am walking through the woods, minding my own business when I get this feeling I'm being watched. Well I start looking around and see nothing out of the ordinary. A few birds, some squirrels. Just the typical woods dwellers.  I start down over this little bench and all the sudden theres this loud WOOF off to my right. I look over and there's a bear standing there. For some insane reason i wasn't scared. All I could think of was to get my camera out.

Well digital cams being what they are it took a few seconds for it to turn on and warm up. By this time the bear was walking away. I only got one good pic of him as he ambled off.

This little gal sure didn't want to be seen. I walked up on her and got about 20 feet from her before she got up and walked off. I saw her from about 200 yards away and as soon as she caught wind of me she laid down and tried to hide. I talked to her and she just laid there. Never moved or even twitched an ear. I think she thought she was hidden from me, but when I got to 20 feet from her she must've figured out that I could see her.

If you look closely you can see 2 other elk behind her. They could've cared less that I was there. Until the hiding one stood up and walked off. Then the one laying right behind her got a little ornery and protective. I'm guessing it was her calf from last year. One thing I've learned. You DO NOT mess with a calf elk when mommas not happy.

You've all seen the pics of the elk bridge that was built elsewhere. Well the PA elk, not to be outdone, found the use of a little foot bridge here. Not sure what she's eating off the floor of the bridge, but she sure did eat a lot of it.

The little bridge is right before Dent's run. It's between 2 camps.

The bear was a definate surprise.
