Wish I knew more about mushroom hunting. I saw some pictures of morells recently and was surprised to see that they were hollow. dd |

Morels are one of the easiest to identify. Once you see one in person. No mistakes. Hollow inside including the cap. There is a false morel but the cap is solid and the mushroom doesn't look a true morel in my opinion. The morel is probably the most sought after shroom. Short season usaually lasts a few weeks. Now is the time. If you stumble on a patch and are afraid to sample send me the coordinates. |

I haven't found any morels in Pa yet, but I have found them in West Virginia when I used to spring gobbler hunt down there. Nothing like turkey fingers and morels... In Pa I have picked chicken of the woods (sulfers- ok, but don't care for them), hen of the woods (sheepshead, can be big and are good), califlower- good, and shaggy manes (inkies- good). nightstalker is going to show me stumpies this year. |
