Last night about 11:30pm I noticed two racoons under one of the bird feeders, I opened the proch dor and naturally away they went.. It is quiet here ha I heard a scracthing noise on one of our Pine trees, I figred it was one of the coons.... As I approached I could not see what was making the sounds but knew they were coming from where one of our suet cakes hangs.

Suddenly I saw what it was....

My first personal encounter with a flying squirrel.
I went back inside to get the digtal camera  (flash ability) and told the wife to come and see her first flying squirrel. Took a bunch of photos and was amazed I could actually get to within about two feet of the squirrel and it just stayed there moving around the cage for the suet cake...
it appeared to have NO fear whatsoever of me standing there and the flash going off...

never get to see them night time creatures. i almost forgot that pa has them.
