Yep, that's me--can anyone explain to me how to take a sentence or para I want to comment on and put it in the beginning of my post. I've tried but all I get is Quote followed by a line. Probably simple for an eight year old but I am headed in the wrong direction from eight.

Hold the left button down on your mouse and highlite the lines you want to quote. then push the Ctrl & C button at the same time.
Now in your post box push Ctrl & V and it should appear

Thanks Yote---How does the procedure differ for the ones that come up highlighted in gray. Also, not to show my ignorance but if you notice all my posts are in one big paragraph. How do you break it up. For example if i wanted to number items and have a space between them and only a few words in each line. I must have been fishing the day they taught that in school.

The way I do it is highlight the area I want to quote by left clicking and dragging my mouse over the area I want to capture. I then put my little arrow on the highlighted part and right click. That will bring a drop down menu to your screen. Click copy and go to where you want to paste it.

Left click where you would want to put what you copied, then right click and that drop down menu will now give you the option to paste. Your copied text will now appear.

To place the quote into the gray box in your message go through the above directions to get what you want to quote from the post where it appeared into your message block. Then highlight what you want to appear in the gray shaded quote block. Now go to the right of the icon tool bar above the place you are putting your message and you will see a box that says “quote.” Click that quote bar and you should have it as a quote in the message box.

Once you hit the quote block your typing block might disappear, mine does, but all you have to do is go back and click on the message block where you want to type and it will provide your type space again.

You can then either type your response in under that quote or type your message into a word document then copy and paste that into the message box.

To leave a space between lines or make a new paragraph just hit the enter key at the end of your paragraph. If you want to leave a space between the paragraphs, as I do, just hit the enter key twice or as many times as you want.

It really sounds more complicated then it is and their might be other easier ways to accomplish the same task. I am not very computer literate either and frequently find that I am doing things the hard way.

I do it like RSB said...  with one exception..

after I have copied the text I want to quote and enter the post message text box I type

[quote]

then I hit "paste" from the edit menu

this puts the quoted material in the text box

then I type [?quote] after the pasted text and thats it...

NOTE-- I used a question mark instead of a right slash    /      in front of the word quote above so it would not dissappear and put my post in a quote box

Thanks again guys. I'll digest that awhile and start trying it so if you see some goofy posts it's just an old dog trying those new tricks.
