I just found out one of our members and a personal friend need some prayers--

Smokepole has had a stroke and prayers are need for a speedy recovery..

Here is part of an E-mail with some details...

I am sending this email to a lot of people, so it will be a general report to all Bill's friends. He had a stroke this morning, and is now in St. Vincent Hospital in Erie. I am writing to ask you all to pray for him for a good recovery. I am a wreck, believe me, but there were a few good signs by this evening. This morning he was unable to move his right side at all, and tonight he was moving his right leg. His face shows no signs of sagging as happens a lot, and he smiled at his son-in-law, and when Jennifer and I were getting ready to leave he actually moved towards me to give me a kiss good night.....

Pastor Ray, please pray for him, and me too because I will need the strength to get through this. And to all our other friends, please pray for us. Thank you all for being such good friends, and I will get back to you all as soon as possible.

God Bless,                                                    Cookie

Praying for ya, get well soon.

When you begin to question why it is you hunt and fish, you only have to look into the eyes of a child who had just seen their first deer or caught their first fish for the answer.

I heard from Bill's wife on Monday, Bill is not doing very well. He still has very limited movement and has not shown a lot of improvement over all. He will probaly have to go live in a nursing home now.

Continued prayers would be appreciated.

UPDATE ---

Quote :

Yesterday thay had him on his feet, just standing for a while, and later helping him walk. He still needs lots of help, but he is getting better. His speech is getting better, still hard at times to understand, but at least he is trying. He has no use of his right hand at all, yet, and the right leg is still weak, they have to put a brace on it to keep it from buckling when they walk him, with a person on each side, and they have to move the right leg for him, but none the less, he was walking. He reads all this mail, and he gets a good laugh out of some of them. I have two cards to take to him today, yesterday took him two, and who knows what tomorrow will bring. He will be leaving St.Vincent on April 3 for a nursing home, for more therapy, and hopefully home soon. If he keeps up on the improvements he will be home soon, I hope sooner rather than later. Thats about it for now, he is not the type of person to just give up because it is hard, and I think he is determined to get home.

UPdate....

Hi all....just a quick message to tell you that Bill will be moved from St. Vincent's in Erie to the Rouse Home in Youngsville. He still requires therapy, and he will receive it there. He also will be able to leave for a few hours, and I plan on taking him up to at least watch the guys fishing.
Hopefully he will get the urge to try it himself, and it will be good therapy for him. He tries so hard to do all they want him to do. He sure is tough!........   more later.

Love to all, Cookie

It is with sadden heart I post this update..

"Little Bill", aka smokepole... passed away at 6:26pm on July 30th.

He will be truly missed..

Bill and "Cookie" have visited here and we enjoyed conversations about hunting and fishing with them,  both now and in the past..

I'll always remember those conversations and his laughter  at sharing the "funny stories""

REST in Peace...  Bill..

we'll miss you........

and I'll send our blessings to the family ASAP........
