I was contacted recently by a member of a CAC for the SW part of the state.  This person had a simple questionnaire for me to answer.  Basically how I felt about the deer population and the future deer population goals.

Nice to see a plan in action and to be able to participate in it.

Also, the unit I live in and also hunt, 2B, has not set up thier committee yet.  Got me thinking about looking into being a part of that committee.

Go for it...

that's the only way the plan will work..

folks from both sides of the issues have to attend and share thoughts and concerns...

Just remember ..
it's NOT ALL about deer..... the PGC is charge with the well being of all wildlife....

Participated in this year's CAC for WMU 5A. Very interesting process. PGC does a power point presentation on their deer management process and the PGC rep answers questions from the CAC members.

Several stakeholders' groups are represented: Landowners, Ag business, forestry business, hunters, deer processors, conservationists, etc. The PGC rep has no role, other than making a presentation and being available to answer questions.

Good bit of discussion among those on the "panel", then each member is required to submit surveys to those with an interest in their stakeholders' group. Then each member brings those surveys to a meeting where inputs are discussed and final suggestions made by the CAC panel on whether deer numbers in that WMU ought to increase, decrease or stay the same.

Numbers vary from group to group, so the final discussion is on reaching a consensus among all members, then forwarding that suggestion to the PGC. I found it to be an interesting experience, would suggest anyone that's intrested, submit an application to be part of the CAC in their WMU.

Thanks Denny...

I spent quite a bit of time talking to Bret Wallingford about the CACs and many other subjects . I told him I was a little dissappointed that it was taking so long to get them in 2F and 2G... two of the biggest "whinners"...

Hopefully it looks like 2009 for us...

Should be easier to come up with a plan for those WMUs in 2009. According to the state's most special hunter and self-described wildlife expert, we'll only have 50,000 deer left in PA by then.

Ohhhhhh   that's another topic that came up OFTEN at the open house....

"Mr. I AM SPECIAL"

full of... knee deep... son of... the colonel...50,000... cougars... law suit threats...copy right...Mr. Negative.. etc...etc...

Ooohhhh Yeah... he was talked about....

That's one thing that all that were there agreed on....

He's not very well thought of at all... and NO ONE said he speaks for their feelings about anything....

But things that were said about him gave EVERYONE A GOOD LAUGH !!!!!!
