At 6:30 this morning I was at one of my favorite spots to listen and wasn't disapointed. At 6:45 a gobbler started an continued to gobble til 7:20. I then took a walk and saw a fair amount of turkey sign, although I only heard the one bird.

I was disapointed by the lack of deer sign, actually I didn't see any sign of deer on the gamelands in three hours of walking.

Are you really old enough to remember when there were huntable numbers of deer on the gamelands.

Nothing is sweeter in the woods than that first gobble of the year!!  Have not heard mine yet but I have not been out in the morning yet.

They are getting pretty vocal on the roost in the mornings. I'm starting hear them in the afternoons when I'm out in the shed too.

This weekend turned out to be a bust. Saturday morning I left the truck at 5:30 and hiked back to where my son shot one last spring. The woods were silent and very little sign.

This morning I went to a gamelands that I was never on to look for a new area. Walked out along one mountain top and saw very little sign and no gobbling on the side I was on. Two were sounding off and the next ridge over. Didn't have time to walk down and then up the other side.
