:9Hunter, that is. My son and I arrived at the parking arae at 4:50, after a 25 minute walk I was at my spot and set up. Daylight came without a gobble again. Around 5:45 I have an answer but I think is that a real hen or a hunter after a couple of minutes I call again it calls right back then I see brown movement and hear comes a guy steaking up to my position. I slowly pull out my orange hat and begin to wave, the goy turns and takes off before I can say anything. That was all my excitement for the day.

Had to leave at 9:00 to help coach my grandsons little league game

Are you really old enough to remember when there were huntable numbers of deer on the gamelands.

I weighed a couple 20.5 pounders on Saturday.. and was told of 4 other successful hunts....

above are the prime examples of why I do NOT ALLOW myself to get interested in turkey hunting.. too many NUTS out there...

Unfortunately I think there are more and more of these type hunters in today's woods
( i.e... SLOBS)

and not just turkey hunters

I've been stalked, have had  hunters sneek in on gobblers that I have been working.  That's one of the reasons I generally hunt in areas without many other hunters.  I try to avoid the crowds.  dd

We were in Cambria County and I read on another site there was a shooting on Saturday, in which someone shot two guys walking through the woods together. Not sure where exactly this was or how you could mistake one person let alone two together for a turkey.

It is tough... I guess im just stuborn and wont let anyone else drive from what I enjoy.. I just try not to hunt on Saturdays, if Ive seen people hunting a particular area recently then I dont go there, I pretty much never use my gobbler tube unless im on my own posted property at home, and often i walk several miles or ride my Mt. bike to try to get away from people if im on game lands or in the forest... I agree with another poster and have for years.. THE SEASON IS TO LATE.. but... there are other factors. The predation is sky high. Coyotes are way more abundant than some people think. A customere of mine who runs a pretty elaborate trap line trapped 7 in one month last year here in Armstrong County. In Elk County back in the Owls nest where I have hunted since I was 12 we see tracks in the snow often... if theres snow on the ground and you walk any distance to speak of you will see coyote tracks. A few years ago we found a deer decaying deer with a shoe box 8 point rack, it was amazing the coyote tracks around that carcus. A coyote or even a pack of coyotes will have a very tough time running down a helthy adult deer but they are just brutal on the fawns... Late season + increase in pedators + more hunters + increase in number of birds (hens) = decresed gobbles. Turkeys arent exceptionaly smart but they are survivors and that is in fact what they are doing... surviving. Like I said in a previous post unfortunatley its gotten more like archery hunting.. some times now a days your odds increase when you just sit quitely and wait
