My go to is a black Roostertail. Last year my buddy outfished me two to one with a bright yellow Roostertail with black spots. He calls it the assasin. |

Try adding a Rainbow Roostertail (gold blade dirty water and silver when its clear) to your bag of tricks. I have fished areas after others were done and really pissed some folks off. One day I approached a hole where a guy was just leaving and he said there's not any trout in that hole. I told him to hang around for five minutes and we'll see. First cast caught a 16 inch rainbow and another one on the second cast. I turned around to see the guy wailing his spinning out fit against a tree. Threw it on the ground and then stomped on it. Then when he saw that I was looking, he called me everthing but a human. I guess there are different types of anger management - but I'm glad he didn't have a gun!!

Observer's story reminds me of the many times I too have come upon a guy leaving because of "no fish" and just hammered them in the same hole... I just wonder how many of those same "anglers" are among the ones complaining about "no deer" . My guess is ALOT of them !! I also love fishing near one of "those guys" who is using all of the latest and "BEST" (expensive name brand types) and out-catch him 2 to1 on the "Wal-mart special combo outfits" and worms from the garden --- ![]()

i just tried this lure called a nitti 1. they are made by some guy around johnstown. i was fishing elk creek recently and this guy fishing next to me gave me one to try, he said they were deadly. he wasn't kidding. he was leaving when i got there so he gave me the one to try. i'm wondering how they'll do on the trout that are stocked. he said they work on them too. we'll see. |

I used to use a yellow roostertail with black on it and had some success with it. I seldom ever use roostertails anymore though. Trout Magnets work well. I do ok with them but my friend Jay does really well. They work best if you tip them with a waxworm. There are lots of colors but white is the killer. |
