My cousin and I tried the river today between Heath Station and the Belltown Bridge.  I caught a tiny Smallmouth and a rock bass.  Whoopie.  The river is already warm and the fish are migrating to the mouths of the tributaries.  There were a bunch of guys fishing down below the stream that flows through Heath Station.  Too many people for my taste and we couldn't get down to the better water so we left.  The river is beautiful and the scenery is beautiful but unfortunately the fishing usually leaves me dissapointed.  I was going to head up towards Ridgway but decided not to bother.  Instead we went to Toby.  I caught ten and my cousin caught three.  We could see lots more trout but they're very cautious right now with the low water.  My first fish was a nice Rainbow about 16 inches long.  The rest were all Brooks and Browns.  We need rain and some cooler weather or it will be a speedy end to the season for me.

I'm heading out before daylight in the morning  if we do not get bad storms over night...back to where I had so much luck on Thursday... got wax worms and crawlers...

the minnows at the store are dying faster than I can keep the H2O cold...

I did not hear too many good reports while working this week-end about the heath pump to belltown section... good reports on Callen Run and Hallton areas and Portland Mills.

Several folks stopped back today (Sunday) to thank me for directions to places for fishing on Saturday and most were extremely happy with their trips...

Naturally.  I almost drove up to Portland Mills but decided not to bother. Looks like it might have panned out if I had.  Oh well, Toby worked out for us.

The Clarion can be very tough but taking the bad days usually makes the great days more worth it.

Fish On!!!

I floated from Heath to Clear Creek on 6/7, and picked up 8 trout and 5 bass.  Find the cold water now, and you found the trout.  Fished from Heath to Belltown on 6/8 and 6/9, and caught a total of 31 trout.  Not many people fishing, as long as you could get around the pleasure boat traffic.  Figures, I get pictures of all of my buddies fish, but none of mine.
