I've been posting paintings of buddies fishing this week.

Anyone care to share a story or two about fishing with a "buddy" when they were young that has never left their memory

THANKS

The year was 1963 and classes for that Friday were over at Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, Pa.

A fellow dorm resident and I were headed to a nearby stream to catch some bass at dusk...
after a few minutes of fishing.. and as the sun started to set.. I decided it was time to try a little surface fishing with my favorite Jitterbug.

That green and yellow bellied number was always my favorite one to throw.

THROW IT was exactly what I was planning on doing too... slowly my arm swung back and I tensed as the wrist and forearm quickly darted forward.... surely this cast would land well past the middle of the stream if not the far bank...

Suddenly my arm, wrist and hand stopped dead... no more forward movement at all...

to make matters worse there was this NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN scream....

I looked over at my FISHIN BUDDY only to find those screams were coming from him...

He was jumping up and down...

What the hell is the matter with him... a bee sting I bet...

Suddenly I notice my favorite Jitterbug dangling from

HIS NOSE....

Holy shit ...

I had BURIED both treble hooks (ALL 6 BARBS) in the side of his nose and just under his left eye...

Well to shorten the story --

I really felt BAD.. but must admit..

I could not stop laughing as we walked down the hall in the hospital to the Emergency Room ..

The expressions on folks' faces was priceless

The ER staff did a good job of cutting all the barbs from the hooks and his face/nose and his recovery went just fine... needless to say that was the end of my fishing experience with that dorm mate..
