I'm looking for some info about why Kahle has been drawn down. While I was surfing the Ice Shanty.com web site I came across 2 photos that were recently taken of Kahle.

One post claimed Kahle has been drawn down by some 5 feet. The photos clearly show the shore line is quite a ways from the south launch.

I can see some advantages as the lower water level makes the lake smaller and the fish will have less area to be in, but I'm wondering what effect the lower water level will have on the typical winter fish structure.

If anyone has any info about Kahle Lake I would appreciate hearng from you. I thought maybe I might be on Kahle later this week, but with warmer temps and rain in the forecast I will probably have to wait for awhile

Good fishin

It's a planned 5' drawdown to last until mid-March. Purpose is to allow for removal of acquatic vegetation around the shoreline. Apparently boaters have been complaining about the weeds and such and now is a good time to address the issue.

Hi Doc,

I called the NW Division of the PFBC yesterday about Kahle Lake. S-10 is correct. The PFBC done this in an attempt to removed the weed growth to improve shore fishing for next summer.

The Lake will be refilled after ice out this spring.

No special regulations are in affect while the lake is drawn down.

Don't forget to purchase your new 2009 Fishing License as they are required after 12-31-08. A license purchased in Dec. is good for a 13 month period.

Dave:

I contacted our Division of Construction and Maintenance regarding Kahle Lake.  They have told me that the lake was drawn down five feet for the winter.  This procedure was performed in order to allow the cold weather to freeze the vegetation.

I hope I have answered your question.

Have a safe and happy holiday season.

Does any know if Kahle Lake has been refilled? This was supposed to  be done shortly after ice-out.

Maybe with some warm weather the perch and crappie will be willing to bite.

Thank you

I read on iceshanty.com that Kahle Lake has been lowered again. I guess this is supposed to be done for 3 consecutive years.

The weeds were getting pretty bad so I hope this helps. I'll be drilling holes just as soon as the ice is safe. I am very uncomfortable on less the 3" of ice. After 4" I'm good to go.

Can't wait.....come along Doc...we can discuss you know what.
